Health Care Reform
Congress is now debating how to enact comprehensive health care reform, and President Obama has signaled his support of the effort. The final plan will be three-pronged: lower costs; guaranteed choice of doctors and plans; and quality affordable health care for everyone.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Sam Farr (D-Carmel) on Thursday evening voted to pass the State Department and Foreign Operations Appropriations bill, which includes $450 million to fund Peace Corps operations in fiscal year 2010. This is a $110 million increase over last year’s level and is the first step toward fulfilling President Obama’s promise to double the size of the Peace Corps.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Sam Farr (D-Carmel) on Thursday voted to pass the Agriculture Appropriations bill, which will fund the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration for fiscal year 2010. The House version of the bill includes a wide range of programs the will affect California and the Central Coast.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Three community health organizations on the Central Coast have been awarded grants totaling more than $2.2 million. The funds were included in the Recovery Act, which was signed into law in February.
