WASHINGTON, D.C. - Spay Day, celebrated nationally on February 23, is an annual campaign by the Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International to inspire people to save animal lives by spaying or neutering pets and feral cats.
"Spay Day is a great tool to raise awaren ess of pet overpopulation, but it's always a good time to bring in a pet for this procedure," said Congressman Sam Farr (D-Carmel). "Millions of dogs and cats are put down every year in shelters, but that doesn't have to happen. Spaying and neutering is the best way to reduce pet overpopulation, and I encourage families to consider this procedure."
Since 1995, more than 1.5 million dogs and cats have been spayed or neutered as a result of Spay Day. For more information on getting a pet spayed or neutered, contact one of the offices below:
