WASHINGTON, D.C. - As the nation prepares to celebrate Memorial Day, Congressman Sam Farr (D-Carmel) joined Brig. Gen. Mary Kight, adjutant general of the California National Guard, to assemble USO care packages for troops stationed overseas.
Brig. Gen. Mary Kight attended Monterey High School and Monterey Peninsula College.
"I stand behind our military forces at home and abroad and I support them every way I can," Rep. Farr said. "I continue to work hard to end the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, but that doesn't affect how thankful I am for their service. As Americans gather around the picnic table this Memorial Day, I ask that they take time out to think about our armed forces overseas."
