Marina Selected as Site for New Veterans Clinic PDF Print

Washington, DCCongressman Sam Farr (D-Carmel) today hailed the decision of the Veterans Affairs Department to move forward with Marina as the site for the future Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense joint clinic. The announcement was made by the Secretary of Veteran Affairs, General Eric Shinseki, during testimony before the Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs.

“The VA’s site selection moves us one big step closer to beginning construction and reaching our long awaited dream,” said Congressman Farr. “After their brave service, our Central Coast veterans deserve a medical facility that meets their needs close to home. This new state-of-the art facility will expand services and help us meet one of our basic commitments to our veterans: access to quality health care.”

Establishing the City of Marina as the site of the future veterans’ clinic moves the project a critical step towards the construction phase. Congressman Farr has been a staunch champion for the construction of a new state-of-the-art clinic to serve the thousands of veterans on the Central Coast. In addition to serving veterans, the clinic will serve retired and active military personnel and their families.

As a member of the Appropriations Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee, Congressman Farr has used his influence to bring the Department of Veteran Affairs and the Department of Defense to the table to build the new veterans clinic.
